On Saturday, July 20, a crowd gathered around the North Barre Manor, one of the tallest buildings in the state, to watch 31 brave participants rappel for Vermont neighbors. Thanks to the contributions of sponsors, supporters, and participants, the event raised $22,000, benefiting Easterseals VT’s programs and services for children, youth, and families.

Seven years ago, Dawn was posed with the biggest decision of her life when her son’s ex-girlfriend approached her, telling her she was pregnant and unsure what to do unless Dawn wanted to adopt the child. Dawn was her grandchild’s only hope, with neither parent able to care for him at that time.

Adopting a child comes with many rewards. But the process is not without challenges. Kendy is so appreciative of Easterseals Vermont’s Post Permanency Services. Her support person, Jill, has been there for all her ups and downs, providing one-on-one support, answering questions, and helping her connect to resources.
