Empowering Support: Caleigh’s Journey
Caleigh and her family were referred to Easterseals VT’s Intensive Family Based Services by the Department for Children and Families (DCF) due to concerns for her son Keagan’s wellbeing. Keagan, a 14-year-old born prematurely, faces developmental challenges and relies on a g-tube for daily feedings.
Intensive Family Based Services offers crucial support to families who are at risk of having their children removed from their care. With support from Intensive Family Based Services Coordinator Lilly, Caleigh was able to:
- Enroll in Medicaid insurance
- Find a therapist
- Arrange medical appointments for Keagan
- Take a credit-building course
- Improve communication with Keagan’s school team
“Lilly and Easterseals VT were great to work with. They helped me and my family get connected to resources that I otherwise wouldn’t have done or didn’t know they existed,” Caleigh expressed.
